MU Strawberry Supper:  13th June 2023

On Tuesday June 13th we celebrated our annual Strawberry Supper. The other Mothers’ Unions in the area were invited and many members came to join us. There were about 50 of us there. We had scones with strawberries and cream and of course a vast number of delicious cakes as always at Mothers’ Union occasions.

Our thanks go to Barbara Street who organised the evening so efficiently and to all her helpers.

As well as being a very pleasant social evening our main purpose was to raise money for the ‘Summer of Hope’ appeal. This is part of the work of the Mothers’ Union in many parts of the world. The money raised helps people who are going through a difficult time. Often a holiday is arranged for families who need a break but couldn’t avoid a holiday. The Mothers’ Union provides support to people who are going through a bad time. Their focus is ‘Hope into Action’.

Our next meeting is July 19th at 2pm. On this occasion we would like members to bring a contribution for afternoon tea, please. Also, at that meeting we shall discuss suggestions for meetings next year, so please come with plenty of ideas.

We do not meet in August. On September 20th our meeting is entitled ‘Show and Tell’.

Please bring a favourite poem or tell us about a treasured memory you have.
