September Letter 2025
Dear friends,
It is a new school year. And it is the right time for a helpful challenge.
The highlight of our Autumn programme at St Luke’s is The Bible Course. Bible Society’s most popular course (enjoyed by many churches) has a new edition, with eight sessions, which we will be our priority through September, October and November.
The course is delivered through good quality videos, which address basic questions like ‘What the Bible is?’ It also tackles some of the common issues in people’s minds, such as ‘Why trust the Bible?’ and ‘Can we trust the text of the Bible?’
There is also a Daily Bible Reading Plan for 8 weeks and practical help for understanding a Bible passage.
The main purpose of the course is to help us see how all the different books of the Bible fit together in order to tell One Story. We are helped to understand the different kinds of literature, and to see how together they present the joined-up thinking of God who wants us to know his message and understand it.
The dates of the Bible Course Sessions are below. The dates are all Sunday evenings from 7pm til 8.15pm in the Church Hall.
The mainline themes are these:
- September 7th Introducing the Bible
- September 14th Genesis: The Story begins
- September 28th Exodus: The Story of freedom
- October 5th Kings: The Story of Power
- October 12th Exile: The Story of Loss
- October 19th Jesus: The Story of Rescue
- November 9th Acts: The Story of Mission
- November 16th Revelation: The Story Completed
How to make the most of the course:
- Buy the 220-page Course Guidebook (only £3 each) from church on Sunday. It’s well produced and easy to use.
- Hear the Introductions in our Sunday morning sermon slot.
- Come to the eight Bible Course sessions (Sunday evening 7pm til 8.15pm in the Church Hall, as above) (or Monday nights 8pm if you’re doing it on Zoom).
- Follow the Daily Bible Reading Plan.
- Enjoy a quality course which will improve your appreciation of the Bible.
Yours in Christ,
Rob
