Responding to Rising Antisemitism – help from the Book of Esther

There has been a rise in antisemitism in recent years, and an explosive increase in hatred towards Jewish people in the last two months. How can we make sense of such a troubling pattern, which has had a profound effect on the Jews in our nation?

One obvious reason is the rise of militant Islam in our country, but these hatreds are complex, run deep, and reappear regularly through history.

To help us think more clearly about antisemitism in general, and to find God’s strength to act more courageously and compassionately on behalf of our Jewish neighbours in England, our preaching series on Sunday mornings in January 2024 will be from the Book of Esther.

Esther was the woman whose bravery helped avoid a large anti-Jewish progrom across the Babylonian empire (c.500BC). And who helped inspire the Jewish festival of Purim, when Jews themselves remember the weight of these things.

Come and join us on Sunday mornings in January.
