MU Planning Meeting 15th July 2026

We held our final meeting of the Summer on an unusually hot Wednesday afternoon. We had fans going and windows open, and survived the heat! After a short service at which Judith Hall read the story of the Wise Man and the Foolish Man (planning and not planning, and the consequences) and Margaret lead us in a prayer about planning and our meetings, we began thinking about next year.
Our July meeting is always our planning meeting, so after reporting back on where the funds from the Strawberry Tea were being used, and making sure members knew about instructions for our trip out to Chester Cathedral on August 9th (Mary Sumner Day and 150th anniversary of MU) members were given pieces of paper to write down ideas for next year’s programme. We had some very good ideas from all the members, which a group of us will look at and discuss before compiling the programme. This always seems to work well, especially when we have a buffet straight afterwards. (Members have to work for their food!!)
A great variety of food was donated by everyone, and very little was left over (like the Feeding of the 5000!). It was a good afternoon attended by about 24 members, and everyone had chance for a chat with each other.
We don’t have any meeting in August, though some of us are attending the MU service at Chester Cathedral on the 9th August.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday September 16th, whenLisa Maddock will be joining us to talk about the new Recycling Scheme in Cheshire East – she is a very amusing and entertaining speaker. Do come and join us at 2pm in the Church Hall
