MU Meeting 21st May 2025

Unfortunately our planned speaker had been taken ill so at short notice it was decided to hold an ‘in house‘ meeting continuing our thoughts on ‘ Metamorphosis with our church community’ .

Carole led the meeting by setting a range of questions.

The first was: ‘What is the most challenging thing about your church?’

The answers came thick and fast; the main one being: engaging people from outside;
then: encouraging families; getting children into services; advertising special services in other places besides church notice boards; keeping the building fit for the future.

The next question: ‘What are the best things about your church?’ was answered immediately with:
welcoming, friendly with fellowship over tea/coffee; Rob and Jean; the work with children and young people; Link letter; wheelchair access ; Music; and the history of the church and its central village position.

This was followed by: ‘What does your church need ?’ answered by:
more leaders; money for outreach and building work; and Parish visitors.

The last question: ‘ What can we do to help ?’ was answered by everyone writing their own prayer on bookmarks which were hung on the MU board in the Hall as were hand prints that we all drew and added to the display. Have a look at our board pictured below.

The meeting finished as usual with further discussion over tea/coffee and initial planning for our annual Overseas Event, the Strawberry Tea in aid of the ‘ Summer of Hope 2025’ appeal. The date is Wed, 11th June 2025 at 2.00pm when our guest speaker, David Shaw, will talk about ‘ Ministerial Musings’.

Our July meeting will be on Wednesday 16th July for planning our ‘Celebrating our resources’ meeting and buffet.
