MU Epiphany service and party: Jan. 18th, 2023
We haven’t been able to hold this January meeting since 2020, so despite the weather it was lovely to see about 28 members turn up on a very cold, snowy
day. Some members joined us from Sandbach Heath, and also some from Brereton.
Canon Rob first presided at a Communion Service for us, and reminded us of the importance of Epiphany. This event seems to be celebrated in other parts of
the world more than Christmas but not in this country. After the service, he enrolled his mother, Margaret McLaren, as a member of Mothers’ Union.
Everyone had brought some food for themselves to eat, (a result of Covid restrictions in the past), and some members also brought some cakes to share around. We all sat around tables and had some lovely conversations after the Christmas break, and it was lovely to hear all the chatter.
Rob stayed on to take the opportunity to talk to people, and we finally managed to give out our ‘Prayer Partners’ after a break of a couple of years. The Prayer Partners are given the names of members that they need to pray for during the year. At Christmas we each give that person a Christmas card to say we have been praying for them and thinking of them all year.
At next month’s meeting on Wednesday February 15th the speaker will be Daryl Hales with a talk entitled ‘My journey to Recovery’. He has lead an interesting and demanding life and now spends a lot of time talking to different groups about his thoughts on overcoming his challenges to recovery. The meeting will take place as usual in the Church Hall at 2pm.
If you would like to join us, just turn up, and you will be very welcome or you can ring Dorothy on HC 533704, or Carole on HC 533882.
