MU AGM:  March 15th, 2023

We were pleasantly surprised by the increased number of members who attended this month’s meeting since it was the branch AGM.

We read out the report of events over the last year and the financial report prepared by Dorothy. We also emphasised that we are a committee-run group and that we rely on help from all our members to assist with setting up and planning events.

Two main matters were discussed. First, members were happy to organise the Strawberry Supper on the original date – 7.30pm on 17th June, when both Dorothy and Carole are away, which was a wonderful response.

Second, we discussed the matter of the Easter Cross and its preparation during Lent, which is becoming a more difficult job for us to do. We are now considering placing chicken wire around the original trays for the flowers to go into. This will mean that the flowers will only last a day, whereas before we would come in and spray them with water to keep them going as long as possible. But we have to move on.

We then served tea and cakes, and spent time talking to members about their ideas for future activities etc.

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 19th April, when our vicar, Canon Rob McLaren, will come and tell us something of his life. This will be at 2pm in the Church Hall.

Do come and join us, or speak to Dorothy on HC 533704 or Carole on HC 533882 for more information.
