Harvest Supper 11th October
On Friday 11th October St Luke’s held its Harvest Supper again organised by the Social Committee in the Church Hall and including a quiz in aid of the Tearfund charity.

This year we served jacket potato with the choice of a meat chilli, veggie chilli, beans or cheese fillings. About 70 people bought tickets and turned up to celebrate with us, including some children. After eating copious amounts of potatoes, mainly with chilli fillings and cheese, we then served apple pies and cream.
It was a very successful evening and we are very grateful for the help of Pat Pye and Alison Dale, and also Joan Duckworth and Paula Lavin who provided more chillis for us to feed everyone. The apple pies were bought from Pear Tree Farm and were excellent.
Derek Copley was the Quiz Master, and he kept us all on our toes trying to work out the answers. I think it was the Bell Ringing team which won this time. A sum of £835 was raised for the Tearfund charity on the night, which is amazing . Thank you to everyone who took part. [Note: the final sum sent to Tearfund from St Luke’s will be £1,000.]
