Update for parents of Genesis children: Sat 4 Apr, 2020
Hello everyone
As you know, because of the public health restrictions, Church services and Genesis are now suspended and the church and hall buildings are now closed until further notice. Further updates about the restrictions and how the Church plans to adapt during the virus pandemic can be accessed via the church website.
On the eve of Palm Sunday and Holy Week it will feel very unusual for us not to be attending Church together. But this is an opportunity for us all to stop, slow down and embrace the time we spend in our homes with our immediate family as well as reaching out to others in the local community and beyond through prayer, thought, action and conversations.
As we enter Holy Week, you may find some of the materials which I prepared for parents and children at the school in which I teach useful during the Easter break. Feel free to use and adapt the ideas with your own children. I made one for EYFS/KS1 and the second for KS2.
For those of you affected by illness, whether personally or through family and friends, we pray for a speedy recovery and hope you stay positive and safe. For those of you struggling in any way, with limited support around you, please stay in touch and we can offer a network of support.
Let’s now continue to pray for a rapid solution and brighter outcome in the coming weeks and months.
As it says in Philippians 4 verses 12-13:
‘I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.’
I’m also reminded of a prayer which I was introduced to at University where I found it comforting:
Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
