Genesis – January 2022: letter to parents

Welcome back to Genesis after the Christmas break and a happy New Year to you all. We hope you were able to enjoy the festive season and that your family and friends stayed well. We feel very fortunate to have been able to share the Genesis nativity, ‘The Star that couldn’t twinkle’ with the congregation in Church in late December. With many schools having to cancel nativities or restrict viewings we know you appreciated the opportunity to
see your child/children at St Luke’s.

In other news, we are delighted to tell you that Emelia now has a baby brother ‘Arthur’ born on the day of our Nativity, 19th December. I’m sure you will wish to join me in passing on our congratulations to Jenny and Andy and we hope for a cuddle very soon.

In addition, later this month, we have booked the Knitted Bible scenes for St Luke’s. These 33 knitted scenes will be displayed in the Church for one week from Friday 28th Jan- 4th February. Our local schools have been booked to visit during this time and the Church will be open to everyone at the weekend so please tell your family and friends about the event.

Genesis resumes on 9th January and we will continue to meet at the Church Hall from 9.45am so we can start Genesis promptly at 9.50am and finish at 10.25am. We will be encouraging handwashing at the start and end of our session and will have windows open for adequaten ventilation as well as hand sanitiser available.

As last term, we shall then go over to Church for the 10.30am service (now reduced to 45 mins with a greater mix of more modern worship songs and more of a ‘screen culture’ style service). There will be a pause in the service after 20 minutes if you want to take your child/children home. There is no expectation that they stay for the entire service, it is what best suits you and your family.

At the 10.30am service, Holy Communion will now only be offered once a month but at every 9am Sunday service. During Holy Communion services, Genesis will go across to Church at 11am (not for the start of the service) so they can have the opportunity to take Communion or receive a blessing.

Family worship will now be on the first Sunday in the month as a rule. So there will be no Genesis on the first Sunday but Rob will lead a shorter 40 minute family worship. There are some exceptions to this so please note these dates below:-
