D-Day 80th Anniversary in Holmes Chapel

The 6th June 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Across the nation, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, beacons and lights of peace will be lit at 9.15pm in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings on the five beaches in Normandy, France.

Holmes Chapel Parish Council is making plans for Holmes Chapel to be part of this act of commemoration.  The village will mark this with the bells of St Luke’s Church ringing out for peace at 6.30pm, followed by a Churches Together service in St Luke’s at 8.15pm. The service will end with the reading of a National Tribute and lighting of a beacon in St Luke’s churchyard.

We hope you will join us in commemorating this special occasion.
