Knutsford Road Churchyard working-party

Saturday 23rd July 2022

A big “thank you” to the enthusiastic volunteers in our working party in the Knutsford Road Churchyard on Saturday 23rd July. Alongside some friendly chat and banter, they soon weeded and strimmed around the memorial stones for interred ashes near the Chapel of Rest. Some overgrown self-seeded sycamore and brambles from nearby graves were also cut back.

The team included Ken Atherton, John Goulding, Jenny Gursory and Jan Rayner, Ken Lever, Helen and Philip Wakefield, Jayne Weaver, Charlotte Webb, and Steve Smith, some of whom are pictured below.

Many of the memorials are carefully looked after by relatives living locally, but hand tidying of the ashes area is still needed every couple of months during the spring and summer to keep the weeds and grass under control. The rest of the churchyard is regularly mowed by our contractors, Clive Nash & Co.

The next Saturday morning working-party will be in mid-September. If you would like to join in, please contact Churchwarden Jayne Weaver who organises the working parties – warden@stlukesholmeschapel.uk
