Christian Aid Week in Holmes Chapel –  15 -22 May 2022

This Christian Aid Week, the Holmes Chapel Christian Aid Group, is seeking your support to help turn hunger into hope.

The combined effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, conflict, and drought have robbed communities and families (like that of Jessica in Zimbabwe facing aching hunger) of the power to provide for their children.

The war in Ukraine, albeit 7,000 miles away, will drive up food prices in Zimbabwe and around the globe.  Without the fertiliser and food, like the wheat and cooking oil that Ukraine and Russia produce, vulnerable families will be pushed even deeper into hunger.

But hope does not disappoint. Hope lives in you.

Your gifts this Christian Aid Week could help Jessica set up water taps on her farm, learn to grow food, and provide seeds that thrive in drought – giving her all she needs to turn her dry, dusty land into a garden of hope.

Join us this Christian Aid Week and help turn hunger into hope. With every gift, every action, every prayer, we celebrate and share hope with our sisters and brothers facing crisis around the world, from Ukraine to Zimbabwe.

How you can donate this Christian Aid Week

Because of the ongoing pandemic limitations, we will not be calling door to door again this year with the familiar Red Envelopes for your donation. Instead, we have set up a special secure Online Platform, specifically for Christian Aid Week in Holmes Chapel, which we hope you will use.  You can access this through the following link for your donation:

https://envelope.christianaid.org.uk/envelope/holmes-chapel-cagroup

  • Envelopes will also be available in our churches on Sunday 15th May if you would still prefer to donate in that way. When completed they will need to be taken to nominated collection points in the village as indicated on the envelopes.
  • We will also be collecting donations of your loose change and notes outside the main entrance to the Co-Op store in Holmes Chapel for periods during Christian Aid week, and will have envelopes available there if you prefer.
  • For those with smartphones, there will also be a QR code on the laminated poster on the village board.
  • Alternatively, cheques (payable to Christian Aid) can be sent to Caroline Wood,  53 Coniston Drive CW4 7LB or to our Treasurer at 89 Needham Drive Cranage CW4 8FB
  • However, we hope that this On-Line Platform will work well for you this year and we appreciate and thank you for your ongoing support for Christian Aid.
  • Any queries, please call Caroline Wood (Holmes Chapel Christian Aid Co-Ordinator) on 01477 535746.

Together, we hope to restore justice to our world, and protect the future for our children and grandchildren.

Please give to help women grow crops that survive in the drought. You can help turn hunger into hope.

With every gift, every action, every prayer, every one of us can change lives.
