As another year at Genesis draws to a close it’s time to reflect on highlights and learning. All our work focus’ on bringing God’s kingdom in heaven to earth and how we can be the hands and feet of God learning from the teachings in the Bible. ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ campaign introduced by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York remind us of our duty of care to ourselves and others and singing ‘Our God is a great big God’ helps to spread the word. Our most recent focus on the charities ‘Barnabus and ‘Stand by Me’ reflects Jesus’ desire for us to work with the marginalised and those on the fringes of society. Thanks to your support our cake and book sale raised £130 to be split between these charities.
Other highlights from the year include our support of Operation Christmas Child, Mary’s meals and our focus on Christian Aid through the Mothering Sunday service we led, focusing on the Church as a net of safety. In Christian Aid fortnight we had opportunities to learn how clean water, football, prayer groups and new housing helps to rebuild societies in war torn areas.
We shall return on Sunday 8th September and already have an exciting range of activities planned for the Autumn. Thank you as ever for your support and prayers.
